Located in the center of town, Posada Viracocha is the most intimate posada in Termales. It is run by Paulino Diáz Moreno who also guides for COCOTER, the community-based tourism enterprise of Termales.
The posada faces the beach with views over the ocean, as well as up and down the main street in Termales. The hot springs from which Termales gets its name is located just a few minutes walk from Virachoca, at the end of a footpath that leads out of town. The posada’s front porch is a popular gathering place for friendly locals in the evenings. Viracocha has a second-floor balcony with a couple of hammocks overlooking a flower and herb garden full of hummingbirds. The balcony is a great place to watch the sunset over the jungle.
Fall asleep to the sound of the waves in one of the three second-floor rooms available for guests. A small single room and a double room face the ocean. Toward the back of the building, there is a triple room with views over the jungle. All beds are comfortable and have mosquito nets. All three rooms share a bathroom on the second floor, which is clean and well kept, but the ceiling is open to the rest of the floor.
The posada serves three meals a day in the typical style of the region. Expect homemade arepa and fruit for breakfast, with fresh fish and coconut rice for dinner. Meals are included in the price and served in the dining room on the first floor.
