Whale-watching in Nuquí is one of the best tourist attractions in Colombia

Every year in June, along the Colombian Pacific coast, locals in the town of Nuquí wait for the amazing humpback whales to pass by. When these majestic whales pass close to the pacific coastline, Nuquí becomes a hotspot for whale watchers. Whale-watching in Nuquí is one of the best tourist attractions in Colombia and hundreds of tourist fly to Nuquí to be as close as possible to the humpback whales on their way to the warm equatorial waters. Whales can be observed all the way from the beaches of Ladrilleros, Bahia Solano to beaches in Nuquí and the Utría National Park.

Whale season in Nuqui Choco

If you are wondering when is the best time to travel to Chocó and observe whales, the answer is: Now!

The time from late June to October is ideal to catch a flight to Nuquí Chocó. In this region you can find deserted sandy beaches, a beautiful tropical rain forest and contact with the unique culture of the local population. During this season you can also watch hundreds of humpback whales that come to the warm waters of the equatorial Pacific. There, young calves come to the world and after several months they are strong enough to start their journey back to the south.
