Whale watching in Colombia

Every year from June to October, humpback whales pass by the coastline in Unique Colombia, a small fishermen´s village on the Pacific Ocean. The humpback whales are looking for warm equatorial waters in order to give birth to their baby-whales. Nuqui is a great destinations for travelers who would like to relax on lonely beaches , wathc whales or hike in the jungle. Many different eco-lodges and hotels, mostly located directly on the beach, offer their services, but there are only a few low-budget hostels. Nevertheless: They exist. So backpackers, after getting a flight for example from Medellin, can easily find a place to sleep and enjoy the beauty of Nuqui Choco, its beaches, its rainforest and its wonderful friendly people.

An undiscovered paradise: Capurgana

Did you know that there is an almost undiscovered beach-paradise. And the travler who wants to find the small fishermen´s village of Capurgana on a map has to search some minutes, because Capurgana is tucked away in the far north-east corner of Colombia near the border with Panama. Sandwiched between the jungles of Darien (where the famous Panamerican-highway is interrupted) and the Caribbean Sea, the idyllic Capurgana has only about 900 inhabitants.

ChocQuibTown – best Colombian Music from Chocó

ChocQuibTown is the best-known export product of Colombia's Pacific province of Chocó. In their music, the band ChocQuibTown whose members were born in the province ́s capital Quibdó combine hip-hop beats and lyrics with the rhythms of the Pacific region as cumbia, reggae and funk-music.
